I did eight years of classical music training; I've fiddled around in a couple of bands; I've had some compositions professionally recorded and released; I've composed and performed soundtracks for several documentaries - so how is it that I seem to have almost completely abandoned any involvment in the music industry over the last half-dozen years?

Just recently I've been getting the itch again.

I've got a couple of extracts from a larger work I'd like to develop further. These samples are really just sketches - trying out some ideas to see how they might work. This is kind of like the way a painter might do some rough sketches of their ideas before they commit to the full painting. I'd really like to develop these ideas further and to fulfill the vision I have for the whole project. I can't do this without some financial help. Like the composers of old, I'm going to need a benefactor of some sort if I'm going to complete this project.

UPDATE - For some reason, one track has gone missing from the server. I'll get it back soon!

Sketches from a larger work (samples) ...
Both of these are rough, early sketches of ideas for a larger work. I'd really like an opportunity to complete this larger work, but I don't currently have the resources.

Sketch 1 (mp3, 4mb)
Sketch 3 (mp3, 2.5mb)

Other works (samples) ...

Richmond [opening credits] - (mp3, 2.8mb) Opening credit sequence from a documentary on the history of Richmond, an inner Melbournian suburb. (Quality of recording is not good - this was taken off video tape, the only copy I have left.)
Richmond [industrial growth] - (mp3, 0.7mb) Background music from the same documentary; a sequence on industrial growth. (Quality of recording is not good - this was taken off video tape, the only copy I have left.)
Generic corporate track 1 - (mp3, 4.2mb)
Generic corporate track 2 - (mp3, 3.5mb)
Generic corporate track 3 - (mp3, 1mb)
Three up-tempo, dynamic tracks composed for generic corporate use. Again, taken off tape, so not great quality copies.
Generic theme [bluetrack] - (mp3, 3.1mb) An up-tempo, modern, driving theme. The theme itself is very simplistic and the mix is not perfect yet, but it was my very first attempt at using Apple's Logic to create music and is my most recent composition.
